I couple of friends and I raced in the "stock 4-cylinder" class for a few years. We drove a 86 dodge omni 2.5L 5-speed. It was a blast but the car was totalled by the end of the second season, we couldn't fix it anymore at all. I think we spent like $5k per season total in repairs. It was well worth it.
