I've been in the Burbank area on and off now for 3 weeks, and I'm really starting to get tired of being here. I initially signed up to be here for 2 weeks and in the middle of my second week my bosses called me and "surprise, we need you there through the end of May" and pressured me to stay. When I say "pressured" I mean exactly that. When I asked if not staying down here anymore would have a negative impact on our support organization he said "well, it's not going to have a negative impact on me at all, I can't say the same for you." Way to watch out for your subordinates o' fearless leader.

They then got the regional manager for the business on the phone and "convinced" me that it was in my best interests to stay through the end of May (a total of 6 weeks of travel as opposed to 2). This whole thing is funny because my boss was originally supposed to be here, but didn't want to go because when he grows up he wants to be a fireman, and is currently taking courses to become one, which he refuses to miss. I'm also going to miss my sister-in-laws wedding tomorrow, which I scheduled time off for months ago, because they need me here over the weekend.

So yeah, I feel a lot like just another corporate number than anything else right now. I'm thinking about just quiting and working at Wendy's or something where the politics can't be all that irritating.

So are they re-imbursing you for buying new clothes and shit?

Nah, just food and my travel costs. They won't even cover the expense of migdet porn hotel movies.

And I'm about to let him so he can catch the flight that he has scheduled for this evening so he can be here tomorrow (the day of the wedding). This has also pushed the desire to move up to, lets see, um, next week.

Oh damn! Sounds like your boss man is a real compassionate guy. I feel for ya. I've thought about working at the nearest shoe store and just eating more pbj's. But I like having a 9-5. Working weekends sucks ass.

DAMN THE MAN! SAVE THE EMPIRE!!

Six weeks without coming home? Thats fucking lame. Tell your gay ass fireman wannabe that he can just hire some dude to wear the suit, he doesn't need to take the classes.

How is it your boss is allowed to hold a second job as a fireman and he's still over you?

He's a volunteer for the time being, but wants to make a career out of it, which means two things:

1) He takes weekly courses to get certified.

2) Doesn't care about his current job anymore, and "delegates" all of his duties to his subordinates, myself included.

(example: He supposedly got into a fender-bender accident this week and took 3 consecutive days off because he didn't have a way to get to work. All of which were marked up as standard paid hours because he connected his laptop at home to the company VPN and logged into Lotus Sametime.)

Log your laptop into the VPN and Lotus while you go to the wedding. No one is around during the weekend anyways. If they call you, answer, and tell them you'll be on it ASAP, but you have exposive diaherria and you can't leave the bathroom this second.

Tell them you can't be there this weekend for religous reasons ... your wife said if you didn't go to this wedding, she swore to God to beat you religously.
