I've been in the Burbank area on and off now for 3 weeks, and I'm really starting to get tired of being here. I initially signed up to be here for 2 weeks and in the middle of my second week my bosses called me and "surprise, we need you there through the end of May" and pressured me to stay. When I say "pressured" I mean exactly that. When I asked if not staying down here anymore would have a negative impact on our support organization he said "well, it's not going to have a negative impact on me at all, I can't say the same for you." Way to watch out for your subordinates o' fearless leader.
They then got the regional manager for the business on the phone and "convinced" me that it was in my best interests to stay through the end of May (a total of 6 weeks of travel as opposed to 2). This whole thing is funny because my boss was originally supposed to be here, but didn't want to go because when he grows up he wants to be a fireman, and is currently taking courses to become one, which he refuses to miss. I'm also going to miss my sister-in-laws wedding tomorrow, which I scheduled time off for months ago, because they need me here over the weekend.
So yeah, I feel a lot like just another corporate number than anything else right now. I'm thinking about just quiting and working at Wendy's or something where the politics can't be all that irritating.
