Ours is never on a leash really. He generally stays in on the property. He does bark furiously at anyone who so dares to walk past, and will stand at the corner barking at the kids across the way, even the horse down at the other end, across the way. He's just a big "ferocious" barker. Super annoying, but he doesn't pose a threat. People know to just annoy him. What drives me insane is the very few that don't know him, see him barking furiously at them as they jog/walk past and they STOP and talk to him. "Ohhhh, what's the mattterrrr dogggieeeee???!" Then he gets worse and goes up to them and barks, but as soon as they reach their hand out to pet him (?!) he runs, barking. I wish people would have the common sense to leave a barking dog be. Seriously, they make it a million times worse. He's just "guarding" what he know as his, nothing more. What if he WERE tied up, would you still go up to the dog and try talking him down? People are so weird.
