Game of the week

8:00PM ET #5 USC @ #10 Oregon

Quarterbacks - Masoli has been effective at best. His stats don't say much in terms of passing but that's because Oregon is dependant on their running game to get them going (including Masoli). The fact that he's a mobile QB should help their cause. Barkley is coming to his own, but he's still a freshman. He's gotten more and more experience so they are continuing to open up the playbook.

USC's RB vs Oregon's Front 7 - USC is a much more run intensive team than passing. (Almost 2 times more rushing than passing plays) They average almost 5 YPC with McKnight and Bradford a threat at any given moment to break it for the long run. Oregon is ranked #41 at stopping the run so they will have their work cut out for them.

Oregon's RB vs USC's Front 7 - Oregon definitely has a better rushing attack statwise and the mobile QB will definitely help their cause, but this will be the toughest rushing defense to date Oregon has faced. I expect them to spread the field and utilize the QB draw. USC has the speed to contain so side rushes by Masoli will be hard to come by.

USC's Passing vs Oregon's Defense - This will be a much better match as Oregon is considerably better at stopping the pass than they are the rush. I think Oregon will be able to contain USC's receivers throughout the day.

Oregon's Passing vs USC's Defense - Oregon isn't even in the top 100 passing teams in FBS. USC is #25 at stopping the pass. Not much else needs to be said. Then again, this is more of the offensive philosophy than it is Oregon's ability to throw the ball.

Outlook - Night Game. In Oregon. At Autzen Stadium. This will be an intimidating game for USC to play in. However, they already have been used to it because they faced an even more daunting location at night in mid September. Oregon breaks into an early lead in this game. THe question is if the energy can remain. If they can remain high on energy and limit the mistakes, they'll have a great opportunity to beat USC. But once the first mistake happens, that will be the true test of this team. I thinkg USC wins this in a close one.

How often are you right? I like that you picked Texas and TCU to win.

Never took the time to calculate my percentage. I'd say I'm failry successful though.

I picked Washington to beat USC as well as Maryland to beat Clemson.

As of right now though this week, I'm 0-1 as I picket Va. Tech to beat UNC.

I wonder......wil College GameDay feature Ohio State 2 weeks in a row now?

Once in Happy Valley next week and once in Columbus for Iowa?

OBviously OSU and Iowa would have to perform well next week for it.
