yea they'd rather trust fifty years of their own uneducated experience rather than the thousands upon thousands of engineering man hours and literally billions of dollars invested into automotive safety research. ultra conservatives tend to have a hatred for the "liberal educators" and as such despise science, knowledge, and anything that comes from it. they see being educated as being socialist or something like that
