Can you see the bad man?

I dissagree with this. animals have fangs and claws and are quite capable of taking care of themselves. children are not.
a child is not the equal of a dog or cat and should never be thought of as such.

It's more along the lines of .. they depend on adults/humans to care for them .. the same as children do.

Like the child should just "buck it up" but then they feel sorry for animals that are hurt/abused/skittish due to abuse or neglect/.

My point was .. some people seem to fight harder for animals than they do kids

Claws aren't gonna help a cat that someone is kicking around a room. Same as a pocketknife won't help a 4yr old little girl who was kidnapped and being raped.

I think you are pulling a BeeRad and reading way to much into this :D

No, I repsonded to something someone said and then people started in on how people who have had this happen to them need to just "get over it".

I think "get over it" is a little strong. Such an event can never be excused or forgotten but there are those use it as a crutch, either because they're not strong enough to live with it (not "get over it") or choose to allow it to consume them. The true test of character is how one faces adversity.

Maybe they should rub some dirt in/on all the animals people choose to abuse and neglect too? Since it's not a big deal for it to happen. Instead of getting mad and wanting the animal abuser thrown under a moving bus.

Children and animals are along the same lines .. neither can fully protect themselves from what happens to them. They depend on adults to take care of them .. and when they don't .. the adult needs to be punished.

I guess Michael Vick should just serve his time and go right back to life as usual, right? He's gonn serve his time for society.

And then everyone should just "get over it" "shake it off" and "leave him alone about it".

Moving target... we're talking about the victims, not the criminals. No one said they shouldn't be punished.

You obviously dont know anyone whos ever had that happen to them. They don't usually do either of those things. It's a small percentage of people that turn into abusers themselves. Most of them don't make it that far in life.

They usually blame themselves for it happening .. they think thay caused it for whatever reason .. and they beat themselves up for years about it. That's why many don't even report it .. because they think it was somehow their fault that it happened. Quite often these people end up going so far into depression from blaming themselves for it happening .. that they end up dead because of it.

Children are easy to manipulate .. their minds don't work like adults do. They don't comprehend why the situation is happening. You take away the time they deserve/need to grow up .. it does things to their minds that aren't normal.
You're obviously making bad assumptions about me. Tis okay though.

Anyway, the thing you're overlooking is called survivorship bias. You don't hear about the people that don't have problems with it, because they don't have problems with it. Not everyone, or probably even most people, fit into your small abuse box. And you partially hit the nail on the head, children are easy to manipulate. That goes both ways...
