So I got a laptop, which stays at the lab most of the time. However, on days when I need to bring it home, I'd like to be able to plug it into an ethernet cord, a mouse, and a power plug. I'd also like to not go hunting for the cables.

Lenovo sells a dock (the laptop is a T61) but it's nearly $200. I'm not going to be using it that often, so I'm looking for a cheaper solution.

The first thing I found is this thing from Pottery Barn:

But that's still kind of expensive. So I looked more and found:

But the thing is, I have a feeling the glue on that is worthless, unless it's from an established brand known for good products.

I think what I'm looking for is going to be more like the last picture, but I need it to work and work well -- stick to the desk and all of that junk. Either that or be a heavy enough piece of furniture just to hold in place by weight (like the first) and be a bit cheaper. And no, I'm not willing to just have duct-taped wires on my desk, haha.

Anyone have a recommendation?

Yea, steal a docking station from work. That's where I got all of my dells.

Do you have a wooden POS desk? If so, just screw the cable organizer in. or get some industrial strength velcro to put on it... that stuff is tough.

edit: from that lifehacker site in the comments... use a hotglue gun to glue it down to your desk!
