Went ahead and ordered the Asus P5Q and the E8400...

Good choice.

Video card, decide whether you want ATI or Nvidia. Much like the Intel/AMD preference.

My preference is Nvidia. Solid products and pretty good drivers.

MIR, to bring it down to your price range. 9800gtx+ is still a solid card.

after MIR, it is close to your price range. Card is supposedly faster than the 9800gtx, with more memory.

I think I will buy everything that I need today except the video card. It was ~300 for the mobo and cpu and then another ~400 for the case, memory, psu and hdd. 700 is really my limit for the week so Ill pick up the video card in a week or so... ill have time to do some more shopping for that end
