i know some women do..... ihave no idea how that works.... are they genetically pre-disposed to that, or is it something that can be avoided with proper care of your skin during pregnancy?
WebMD says:

[h=3]Who Gets Stretch Marks[/h]If you have them, you’re in good company. About 90% of women will get them sometime after their sixth or seventh month of pregnancy, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
If your mother had stretch marks, then you're more likely to have them too, since genetics plays a role.
If you have a lighter complexion, you will tend to develop pinkish stretch marks. Darker-skinned women tend to get stretch marks that are lighter than their skin tone.

My wife did the same after her 3rd child.

I feel like being fit before you have a kid, and continuing to stay so during pregnancy (exercising and not eating bon bons all day long on the couch is not gonna miscarry your kid) makes a huge difference
