A man, in his youth, took up residence in a beautiful forest. He lived happily there, and eventually took a wife, and raised his family. When he was middle aged, he started noticing signs of alopecia, eventually losing all of his hair entirely. As he was living, civilization started encroaching on the forest as well, cutting trees down to make buildings, firewood, pencils, etc.
On his death bed, bald as a baby, he said to his family, "Eventually, this forest will be just like my hair, completely denuded of trees. I want you, my family, to be the custodians of this forest, and for each tree that is cut, plant a new one in my memory".
Then he passed away.
His family honored his dying wish, planting new trees for each felled tree, and the forest stayed lush and thick for centuries.
