WTF Bad boys, Bad boys, whatcha gonna do

now imagine if this was your life, not just during a time of civil unrest but knowing any encounter with the cops could end that way and people would say you deserved it, because you didn't have footage to disprove their lies (like "he tripped"), because you had done something wrong ever in your life, because "the cops must have had a good reason for it"

like idk maybe the cop that pushed a 75 year old man into the ground and the throng around him that didn't stop to render aid were new, maybe they hadn't been trained not to do that yet
It's upsetting, but good it's finally coming to light now. Just so many emotions for everyone.

I give the people filming a pass because there is absolutely a power dynamic, and those people would absolutely have risked the same fate if they tried to step in.
I have zero sympathy for the cops, new or not. they had the power in that situation, and the squandered it. and the behavior of cops all over the last week is a clear indicator that that's not a bug, it's a feature.
Being a police officer as a career choice tends to draw the type of individual that wants to inflict violence. The police ( the good ones) need to hold their peers more accountable. Maybe if police settlements started coming out of their pension funds instead of from taxpayer money, they would be more inclined to do so. A federal database of police reprimands would be useful as well, so they don’t just move into a new area with their bullshit.

Most of our police their pensions have zero to do with the actual police force. They are paid into and managed from their union. But I agree people won't change unless they are held accountable. I think the arrest and hopeful conviction of the officers who watched will have more of an impact than the one who did it.

hey, do you wanna know what getting shot with rubber bullets does to your body?

wild that so many rounds were fired into their back, almost like they were facing away and very unlikely to have been a threat 🤔

Not excusing any of this, just pointing out some terminology.

"Rubber bullets" is really buckshot loaded with rubber pellets instead of lead ones. One shot can make multiple bruises.
That scattering of bruises still says they were shot more than once, and while moving away.

"Beanbag" rounds is a single projectile, a little beanbag. 10 bruises means being shot 10 times. They wouldn't still be standing or running after the first couple hits.

There's also what amounts to high speed paintballs filled with pepper spray, or a dye to "mark" someone.

We have someone in the hospital here in critical condition who was hit in the head with a beanbag round they claimed was aimed at the person next to them.

None of these things are very accurate, especially from a distance. They're not supposed to aim above the waist.

They had to stop calling them "non-lethal" because they can kill.

I don't know of any that are actually a single bullet made of rubber. They're all shotgun shells loaded with different things. They all can kill, just "less likely" to than the same thing made of lead. As long as they don't hit you in the head anyway.

"Rubber bullets" are a Hollywood creation.

the round shown above is what people are being shot with when they're talking about rubber bullets in this scenario.

and there's TWO Austin men, 16 and 20 years old, in the hospital after being shot in the head, though which type of round between the two is disputed.

here's what happened to Brad Levi Ayala, age 16.

here's what happened to Justin Howell, age 20.

the footage of them shooting Leslie Furcron between the eyes doesn't show the actual moment of impact, but it shows what she was doing before she was being shot (she was just going to the store, and had been livestreaming) and I posted that picture that showed the aftermath. for not being able to aim it, they sure have been doing a great job of hitting people right in the center of their foreheads
