Continuing this evenings trend for construction threads, I present:

The Livingroom Media Storage Cabinet Project


In our living room we have this space that I call a "nook". The floor plan calls it the "Tv space", but its in a bad place for a tv , and its really too small for any kind of proper entertainment center, so we had a free-standing book case in it. But the book case was old, and the space really need to be utilized properly.

Heres what I started with:

I didnt take in "in progress" shots, so heres what I ended up with:

All shelves are adjustable:

And an action shot of the rail system the doors ride on (they hang from above):

So there you have it. The stupid "nook" is now a media storage area, and the crappy old book case got the boot.

Actually the project took me about 3 weekends to complete.

Maybe hundred fifty, two hundred in materials.

Ive thought about making decorative panel to cover it with. I wouldnt call it ugly tho, most of the other major doorways are arched, so it fits in quite well.

Left it where it is. Theres just an outlet in the back of the cabinet now.
