LOL, It was A tie. Each team gets 1 point. Fotr the USA it was a sort of win in that it was a great result. In the group stages a game can end as a tie. Once it gets to the knock-out stage then if the game is tied at full time then there are 2 extra periods. If it's still tied then, it goes to penalty shots.
