Hoping the Braves can take down the 'Stros before they have to play next week. I start classes Monday, m-f, 5-10:30pm. Games 6&7 would be Monday & Tues next week.

God bless my wife. When the area we live in had a problem or three, and we did catch somebody trying to steal from us or whatever, as I (or she a couple times) had them "subdued" she'd ask me, "you wanna call the cops or the bandidos? Or just handle it ourselves?".

Never did catch the same fuckers twice, and after a bit those problems disappeared in the immediate neighborhood.

We can't claim responsibility for all that, a few other neighbors pitched in too, especially after they realized they're not alone and folks next door or down the street had their back.
Anyway the point is shitbags like that just expect to do whatever and nobody will check them hard enough to matter. Once you (especially as a small community) do, most will move on to easier pickings. The few that don't are the only real threats.

The neighborhood is a good one now and has been for quite a while. Not "nice looking" or rich or fancy or whatever, just working class folks and retired folks living on SS but you can leave your stuff in the back of the truck or leave whatever stuff in the yard and it'll still be there.

All without needing a cop, not even once.

I went and tried out for a "band" once - dude was super scary and he had a singer who was a porn star girl. He regaled me with the shitty things he had done to the neighbors. More than once I've laid in bed thinking "when I move from here, if I get a guy like that for a neighbor I am killing him and disposing of the body early on. Serious. My step-daughter has a fucktard that hassles them constantly. I'm supposed to be over there passing out candy Sunday - I swear if that fucktard comes over thinking oI am my SIL I am kicking his fucking ass. My SIL is very non-aggresive. SIL's a good dude and there is no reason to talk shit to him and his wife. In front of my grandson.

Indeed.

We weren't some crazy ass violent people or something. We're not that by nature, mostly look for calm resolutions, but when somebody starts fucking with ours, or upsets mama bear, well....

It's pretty cool as in me usually has to be the practical thinker when shit gets to that point as she, once you get to a certain point or trip a certain trigger, it's like trying to hold back a pissed off tiger or cheetah or something.

Like don't fuck around man or I'll let her off the leash.

She's awesome.

I can picture Hips being arrested for blocking traffic when his 87 Taurus breaks down on the interstate at the start of 4th of July weekend.

Pretty hard to get arrested when nobody, us, or them, or anyone else, calls the cops.

Criminals aren't going to call the cops. When the people they're doing criminal acts towards don't call the cops either, then what?

The natural order of things just broke down and you're about to get some comeuppance that's what.

For your information it was a 96 Taurus that I sold back to the junkyard that half the parts on it came from and we're operating in the 1998-2002 realm of vehicles now, sir.

I'm in the market for a car for the old lady, maybe something more modern like 2008 to 2015 or so. Although something like a 73 Cordoba or Torino or old Ford or Chevy truck would really be a better fit

To this day, despite all the advancements,she still pumps the gas pedal to get the engine going

It's endearing.
