Ontopic Alcohol Blog - Post when you're drinking!

Buying some car parts from someone. Said he'd accept a good bottle of scotch. Parts are worth $120.

Any recommendations for a bottle?
Islay. Lowland tends to be overpriced. Highland is not obscure.

Ardbeg is decent and about $40. Laphroaig is like $60.

I'm assuming he wants a single malt because he asked for scotch.

My sisters found this in my parents basement while packing. It’s made funnier by the fact that they don’t drink. I don’t think my mom has ever had alcohol. View attachment 12700
I liked that, and thought of incorporating it into a whimsical art piece to kick off my art season. Researched it and see it is a paraphrased version of a quote by Charles Gavan Duffy(Irish and then Australian politician,etc.,etc.).
The horse and mule live thirty years
And never know of wine and beers.
The goat and sheep at twenty die
Without a taste of scotch or rye.
The cow drinks water by the ton
And at eighteen is mostly done.
The dog at fifteen cashes in
Without the aid of rum or gin.
The modest, sober, bone-dry hen,
Lays eggs for noggs and dies at ten.
But sinful, ginful, rum-soaked men
Survive three-score years and ten.
And some of us, though mighty few,
Stay pickled 'til we're ninety-two.

Had a few Brew Bus beers while hanging out with people from a LeMons type race event in a parking lot in Gainesville, also had a couple fingers of some truly awesome Japanese Whiskey I traded for some blueprinted injectors for the truck.
To cap this evening off, one of the guys is friends with a butcher or something and he brought a bunch of homemade brats.

I am feeling full and buzzed.
