Well, most guns that I buy are around $300-$500 so they aren't a devistating hit to the finances, and most guns that cost $1,000+ will always cost that much unless you find them used and whatnot. So that may not be a realistic comparison.

I'm not really the type that has to keep up with the bleeding edge on tech. I've got an SDTV Sony Wega 32 inch that I got last year and absolutely love it's picture quality, regardless of it not being HD. To be entirely honest on all of the HDTVs that I've seen I haven't seen a difference that would justify the $1,000 price jump.
