A question for tech people.

although it can play mpeg-4 you actually want to use .h264 on a ipod because of battery life. also allegedly the next generation will have a much longer life as the main reason its rather poor now is because of two main chips that have allegedly been dropped.

like I said, cheap fuckers on the development end.

hell, they could even take a week to pick a plastic that didn't scratch easily.

2-3 hours is still complete crap for those devices. They get from 5 to 6 times that when playing music. I will grant that a lot of the power will be diverted to the screen. But I wouldn't think it would make that much of a difference.

And the point remains that it takes at least 4x the processing power to decode MPEG4.
mpeg4 licensing is much cheaper than mpeg2
