Uh huh. And you can pay cash for cars, houses, emergencies, etc. Why, you have two million dollars under your bed!
It's completely feasible. We just live in a society where we have to keep up with the Jones' and are brain washed to spend way more than necessary.

If you want to save for 30 years to buy a house, and inflation completely stalls
So say you have a $35k job at 20.
Live off of $20k of it and save the rest.
After ten years you have $150k not including interest and raises added to it.

Finagle the numbers whichever way. People just don't think like this though, it's this weird paycheck to paycheck mentality most have. Learn to live on less, you can have a lot more later.

...don't start families early either if you want to be financially independent.

This works excellent

if you, you know, choose to avoid paying any taxes on that 35k a year

A 35k job brings home 20 after taxes, there goes all your savings.

Also, houses are double that

Where are you buying a house at $150k? And, don't even bring up the backwoods, or tiny Midwest towns in the middle of nowhere. The general population doesn't want to live there.

Been multiple places I have looked at that were at $139k or so. Friends bought a very nice place for $160k
