Ontopic 3 Athiests walk into a smegma church...

Exactly what parts are interesting to you? I find the occurances of theft numbers interesting. Especially WV, where the numbers state the least generous and worst health and contentment and fairly impoverished you would think would provoke robberies out of desperation and it just doesn't.

GA has far worse crime but scores a 4 in generosity. churchy folks are good for something I guess

edit: they don't need to steal shit if they're stingy as hell :p

Delaware certainly is, and you have to account for the festering cesspools in the large states that skew the #'s, like KC, St. Louis, Detroit, Houston, Dallas......

New Mexico must be from The Hills Have Eyes people.

Exactly, overlay murder rates with political maps and you'll find (in mo anyways) that they line up perfectly with the two blue swamps in the state. Downtown kc and downtown st louis.

I wonder if this was put together by an atheist.

Less educated states tend to gravitate toward religion, no doubt because it is a family tradition and they quite simply don't know any better. I find that more people who claim to be agnostic or athiest are the types who read more books than the common American, anyways. New Alabama governor is a moron to say the least... but when you go to an evangelical church and they hand out pamphlets on what each candidate stands for (ie this one stands for killing babies, this one stands for saving babies!) then who do you think is going to be voted in? I recently visited one in October (at the urging of a friend who wanted me to experience the joy in worshipping, I went along as an observer to say the least) and received said pamphlet myself.

Has anyone read Freakanomics? Book claims that when Roe vs Wade was passed in 73', the homicide rate began to decrease in urban areas in the 90's due to the number of unborn children who would have most likely turned out to be thugs/drug dealers. Interesting...

These sorts of correlations are absurd.

Freakonomics is a great read. I enjoyed it because it shows the interconnectedness of economics to everything.

Did you read Superfreakanomics as well? Just as good if not better. Especially the story about the escort/prostititue who figured out the supply and demand of sex services and later decided to go back to college to study economics and eventually run her own business

Whoa, not yet... but I am now going to pick it up.
