Not even a proper axe, what the fuck is with that triangular head on the thing? It's not gonna penetrate into a log properly. Probably blunt as fuck too, considering how it just bounced off and didn't even affect the log at all.

If you're splitting wood, you gotta have a good/sharp axe. It just makes it so much easier and safer. And a good Fiskars is <$50.

Looks like a cleaving axe or splitting maul. Dad has a couple, they work excellently for splitting green wood, and yes they are blunt. You don't swing those, though. You hold 'em and smack 'em with a wooden maul or something similar.
