Here is a funny video of Gene Rychlak at the Mr. Olympia contest last weekend trying to press over 1000lbs. He doesn't get it and the guest announcer Triple H tries to be nice and not point out the guy just obviously hurt himself but the other announcer is a total idiot and doesn't pick up on the hint. Triple H does a good job of subtly pointing out the guy is a dumbass.

I read later that the guy may have broken a few ribs and punctured a lung but I can't find where I read that now.

Here is a great video of the first time he tried 1000lbs. http://www.guzer.com/videos/benchpresscrush.php

Can you hear the squish sound too? Supposably he pissed off his spotters before trying that. Not a good idea.

He squished himself like a bug on the orginial attempt. His legs were all shaking in the air. Got to give the guy credit for still trying over and over.

For the nonweight lifters/powerlifters, the tiny sirt he's wearing in the videos is called a benching shirt. It helps support a lot of the weight and makes it safer but easier. Powerlifters wear them in competitions. Lifting without one is called raw. So if he did 1000lbs with a shirt he's doing maybe 750lbs raw. Still impressive either way.

255 X 8 reps

What's your max or you not worrying about that lately. I go through periods like that. Last time I tried I got 335lbs x 2. I didn't bother going for one rep max as i was already tired working up that high. I took a few weeks off to recover from various wear and tear and just started back up strong again. I'm behind where I was but I think the time off will help me push forward now.
