Some more douglas fir on its way to becoming a dining room table, with padauk inserts.

So how are those ends fixed on?

I'd probably have done breadboard ends so that the table can grow and shrink seasonally, like the hickory one I did a while back. Even in my air conditioned house, it grows and shrinks by about 1/4" over the course of the year.

What you cant see is theres a sheet of plywood underneath. Its stable and reasonably flat. The edges of the frame have a 3" rabbit cut into it and the edges are are glued and held down with screws. Its not moving at all.
The puzzle pieces are fitted in and glued down and will have a screw from underneath, so they wont ever move either.

@Strings this made me think of you.

Maybe one of these days I'll look into doing my own 3D prints. Am I naive to think I'd save money?
But yeah, gaming is so much better in 3D.
And I really enjoy the creativity in making, building, painting, etc. Probably more than actually playing the games sometimes.

There's a relatively high barrier to entry for designing your own. However, if you can find them, you can print them - for pennies.

Right. That's what I mean, I can buy different downloads (whatever the terminology may be) and print as many as I want. Convenient for building armies and terrain. I'm especially interested in 1/72 scale ruins and damaged buildings.

You'll probably lose money compared to farming out your printing because the near-instant gratification of printing shit yourself means you'll be making way more things :)

One of the other departments at work picked up an Anycubic Photon and a wash/cure station to go with it. Seems like a real nice rig for the price, but working with resin is stupidly messy.
