Ontopic The new car-seching thread

You guys remember the Auto[M]ay meme of Oar-tec? The vid where the guys were hanging out the window paddling as they were racing? Anyone have any links to any of that nonsense?

@august you've got a memory like mine for that shit. Maybe?
I never much paid attention to the car stuff and oartec definitely predates my tenure lol

I couldn't find much actual content beyond what was already posted, I found a genmay thread posted by Wizzfish about it in 2002 but it just links to a long-dead hardocp thread and I wasn't successful finding anything archived.

I'm not fb friends with shiki but I am still fb friends with his wife (whose username escapes me now) and it would probably be WEIRD but I might could ask her to ask him if he still has anything lol

Wtf is this? A Camry shooting brake? Just saw it at BJ's.

It's got the plate "96 Nomad".

A Nomad was a Chevrolet station wagon back in the '50s and '60s, but the famous one was 2 door, built on the A body.

So, what did Chevrolet make in 1996 that would have been a suitable basis for this mindboggling waste of resources?
I'd guess the Monte Carlo, the windows seem right, at least, and it's one of the few non-Corvette 2 doors in the lineup.

I'm a wagon guy. I've known the Nomad since my hot wheels car in the 70s.

This looked like a 90s Camry in front. Was in a hurry and didn't take a pic though.

The way-back window is definitely Camry-esque. I'm going to stick with Monte Carlo though, as the other windows are pretty good tell-tales, IMO.

Dem windows:

On the other hand, though, a Camry Coupe might be a good fit too:1994-1996_Toyota_Camry_coupe_01.jpg

Never seen one of them in real life though.

Got nailed for $450 to replace my passenger side side mirror. It de-laminated and turned into a collection of fractals. Odd. Made the car look like shit and was dangerous so had to. $400 for the glass alone(housing ok and all the motors) and 1/2 hour of labor.

$400 for an auto-breaking mirror!? Did they change your blinker fluid too?
