Baby Baby Mama drama

Is it automatic? Child support is paid through the state and tracked With missed payments adding interest (at least in az) but nobody does anything about past due child support unless the spouse that isn’t getting it brings it up and takes it to the courts.
Theres no reason that couldnt be automatic right? I mean, that wouldnt address the people actively dodging it (undeclared income, working under a pseudoname, etc), but itd get all the deadbeats working under their own name and paying taxes

which is dumb, its your kid, you're responsible for half of them no matter what the other circumstances are
That's dumb. If one parent is a millionaire and one works paycheck to paycheck, then being responsible for half of him/her is beyond the means of the worse off parent.

There's a reason why the means of the parents are considered during custody/support hearings here.

the amount is where that plays. They contribute according to their means. If their means makes that number zero, so be it.

Huh. That's definitely not the way it works here.

an amount is set by the government based on his income. i nor the judge chooses the amount. the government guideline does.
he must support his son til he’s 18

we also went through the court system. had we done something out of court it would have worked out differently for him but he pulled the trigger on that.

we have a third party called FRO which stands for Family Responsibility Office and they track it all.
he pays FRO and they send me the support payments

well, one person contributed between 3 and 45 minutes of effort, and the other contributed 9 months + 3-45 minutes

some people pay $100 per month some people pay $10k per month it’s all based on their income

when i lived with CEO and i clearly didn’t need the child support there was nothing my ex could do.
he is responsible for his son

That’s similar to here but when the person that is supposed to doesn’t pay nothing happens until the person not getting it brings it up. At that point courts get involved and wage garnishment and other consequences come into play.

It could be but it’s not. The person that owes can set it up to be automatically deducted from their paycheck but they can also have it not auto deducted or not reset it up when they get a new job. If that happens they can just happily go on not paying forever unless the person not getting it says something to the courts. Granted it also never goes away. Kids could be 45 years old and the parent still owes back child support plus all the interest that has accrued.

and it costs time stress and a fair share of money for a lawyer to get the courts involved probably :/

THat's why I plucked $60/wk. Here a guy making $300/wk take home would be capped at paying about $60/wk. 20% for first child, no more than 40% of their after tax regardless of how many spawn. Court issues a bench warrant when people get 4-5 weeks behind here - you get pulled over, you going to jail. You start a new job you are obligated to get them sending that shit automatically. Federal tax lien is filed by the State automatically (here).

Hopefully he makes over $300/wk; otherwise, you need to quit torturing that poors bastard. :D

You're fucking rich. Why are you trying to milk everything you can out of some dude you CHOSE to breed with?

This makes me think. I wish I had saved all the receipts from all the extra money my two cost me. Not the usual food, clothing, education or fun growing up stuff all kids should have.
I mean the broken windows, furniture, video game controllers . All the things they insisted on joining or doing that they almost immediately lost interest in after I spent a small fortune. I figure I could have wrapped up all those receipts in a shoe box and give it to each kid the day he moved out. Or saved it for when they bitch about their kids costing so much money.
