Ontopic The new car-seching thread

C6Z. C5Z had 405hp. Anyway, you know as well as I that the engine was probably sourced from a wreck and the guy got a deal.
Whatever, still don't care for LS swaps.

The engine isn't the only expense - F-bodies came with 10 bolt rear ends on leaf springs, transmission tunnels designed for Muncies, z-bar clutch linkages, no rack and pinion (just center link, steering box and idler arm), c-channel frames, and itty bitty (usually non-assist) brakes.

I get that the nostalgia is strong, but (and this paints me as a hypocrite for putting fuel injection on a 455) unless you're willing to put up with the fact that you're starting with a compromised platform that will never be as good as even a modern Camry, then it's kinda silly to build restomods with huge power motors like that.

My friend stuffed a LS engine in his MK3 Supra.

Throwing LS's in tacomas/4runners/whatever is really common so all he had to do was buy some crap off the internet and a LS+computer from a scrap truck and lego it all together. IIRC the most complicated part of fabbing it together was the exhaust.

It replaced a "throw several thousand bucks worth of shit at a 7MGTE and break shit" motor, now it's 360hp and reliable and driveable and decent on gas and he wishes he went the LS route from the outset.

Yeah, it might piss off some LS SWAPS ARE LAME people, but that's OK.

I think LS swaps are great. Simple, small engines that make huge power and get great mpg for what they are. I wish I had one in my RX8 for the last 10 years. Could've nearly doubled the HP and gone from 18mpg hwy to over 30.

If people want LS motors, it's not like they came in a shortage of cars.

If you absolutely have to swap motors with something, I guess you could do worse, but by all means, don't stick with that Cadillac HT4100 or 7MGTE or w/e.

At a red light, smell hot brakes. Check the corners to make sure it isn't me. Notice a black truck with smoke coming from the wheel. Look closer, wave at him till he rolls down the window.
"Guy, your brakes are literally on fire."
"What?"
:nods emphatically while I take a pic:
"Shit, I'll check it out "

Holy shit, I'm in love. That color and interior? Only 14k miles!! Located like 2 miles from my grandfather. Might have to have a look at this.

Numerous people in the thread said it was a gum tree without any protestations.
Highly doubtful they are correct . . . . A fast Google will make it clearer why I said that. And the two I planted outside my kitchen window 16 years ago.
*Mainly I was in it for the "bark not bite" and "flakey" puns.
**Not sure one Aussie and a guy who agreed with him is "numerous". I just disagreed with them there so they can chew my balls off. :)
