Advice The Home Improvement/Automation Thread

I paid off my shitbox twice, once in 1997 then again in 2002 after using it as collateral on a loan I didn’t know existed. Thanks, ex wife who was a loan officer at a bank that eventually went under in early ‘09.

She was lucky I didn’t turn her into authorities or even her bosses.

Who did you go through?
Navy Federal Credit Union.

I did pay half a point to get that low. got 3/8 of a percent for half a point, which is pretty great considering a full point generally only buys you a quarter point.

My oldest said if we moved to Hawaii she’s likely be okay with it and not fight us.

we are seriously considering selling everything and buying a 1200 sq foot house near Hilo on the big island. If nothing else it would be an adventure.

I'll be damned. Their rates are better than Penfed right now. Glad I backdoored my way into Navy last year!

Edit: And their ARMs are even better! Thanks!

yep, penfed aint what it used to be. They were always the rock bottom, but navy is beating them solidly recently.

Also, penfed fuckin sucks at customer service.

That said, it was an absolutely horrendous process to get refinanced at navy, they severely severely underestimated how many new mortgages and refinances theyd get and their processors got so overloaded the response time was 5 weeks for anything.

Now I get to see how freaked out they'll get over my manufactured spending.
