Ontopic Random (Not So) New Music Thread

Story time about the first time I heard Meshuggah:

Back in 1997-98 or thereabouts, I used to run a Hotline server off my shitty 56k Modem & one-way satellite internet connection, where I shared my entire (small by today's standard) music collection with whomever random person came on the server. This guy came on my server and for some dumb reason really wanted to grab a portion of my music collection, even though there were better servers with more music on a way better internet connection like someone's workplace T-1. After he downloaded albums which took days or maybe a week straight, he uploaded the first two Meshuggah albums and said, hey man you gotta listen to this. It changed my life. /storytime

I guess I'm just old but when people talk about "back when" and reference the late 90's and go on to describe modems and servers and stuff I'm like ???.
