FYI [FYI] I wiped my asp with my HR sweater.

ya, we renovated our en suite bathroom a couple years ago, and they run extra piping to prevent pressure drops in the shower. it's the second favourite thing i got done in there. heated floor under the tile is the best.

We're redoing our bathroom this year. How much thickness did the heated tile add? I have a poured concrete floor too if that makes a difference.

not much. it's just wire and thinset. thermostat controlled. takes a couple hours to heat through, but it's on a timer.

I see.

I was looking at it to replace the electric baseboard heater in there already. I'm thinking it would be awesome to eliminate the thing off the wall and use it's 220v power source (also on a thermostat) to power the floor.

Does it heat enough for this? Or am I looking at an exercise in futility?

not the one i have, it basically just warms the floor so it feels good when you're walking on it barefoot. it's not gonna heat my whole bathroom because the room is like 12X12 feet.

 my bathroom is like 10x18. I bet they have special radiant floors designed for room heating. Hmmm.....

heating the whole room would be a waste. most of the DIY kits are for heating a section of the floor where you know you'll be standing or walking a lot, like in front of the vanity and right out of the shower. i'm going to use a couple 3' x 5' sections for our downstairs basement when we get to it.
