Of course our military is going to beat their chests and tell us how amazing and ground breaking it is. It seems that it's been going on in some regards for quite a while, its just official now. I'm sure there are detractors to this policy change. Are there any here?

What do you military and/or ex-mil guys think?

No problem with it, but at the same time I don't see the point at all. We pretty much have enough frontline troops to take care of missions.

They have to carry their weight though, no double standards.
Also, this so hard. When they start allowing for women to shoulder packs that weigh less then there will be serious problems.

My neighbor, for one entire tour of duty in 'stan had a female gunner on his HMMWV, he said that she was a horrible troop and a horrible person, but a great gunner.

I'm against it. The front lines don't need overt sexual distractions. The instincts of many men is to protect women. Having many more women to protect could subvert the chain of command and place squads in undue danger.

Yeah, it doesnt work like that. When you're in a stressful situation you're not thinking about gender. The person is your squadmate, black, white, indian, woman, man, chinese, whatever. All that other shit that might apply in an everyday situation where you look at someone a little differently goes out the window.

It's not like there have been any gay couples endangering their squads.

How about when they're on base with nothing to do, raping each other like wild monkeys? Does that happen? I'm trying to come up with ways to keep women in the kitchen, faggots. You wanna eat cold sandwiches for the rest of your lives?

They just need to make them all like field medics, but instead of a med kit, they can carry a picnick basket.
