Hello all you wonderful people!

After I pick up my new more touring ready scooter, friends of mine and I will be doing more road trips. What things should I add to my checklist to bring for such events? I am thinking two night stay at a camp site time of event.

Tent (small one or two person backpacker's tent)
sleeping bag
small tool kit
duct tape
bungee cords (to strap stuff to the scoot)
food (what kind?)
water (stored how?)
etc

Cooking stove
Propane
Campers dishware and utensil kit
flashlight
compass
large knife (useful for like, everything). A survival knife with a basics kit in the handle is excellent.

Since you are doing this on a scooter, I recommend packing up dehydrated rations. Most camping stores will have them and they don't suck. Alleviates the need for a cooler.

Zip ties for emergency repairs.

Edit:

Purchase bottled water at gas stops, they will be numerous enough. If you pack alcohol pack spirits as they take up less room.

and floss. don't forget to fucking floss.

Pretty much got everything covered. Try to pack as light as you can. No matter what kind of trip your going on, you'll always say you forgot something and you'll never use everything you bring.
 
If you're going to light packing leave the propane stove at home. Get a jet boil. I use mine anytime I'm either back backing or going for a light load. http://www.rei.com/search?query=jet+boil

Then do what Duke said and get the dehydrated meals go with either backpackers pantry or mountain house. The meals are good and easy to make. Just boil the water in the jet boil and pour into the bag. There is also a french press attachment you can get for the jet boil.

For water either buy when you stop or prepare to filter. I have an inline filter I use on my camel back so I can just get water anywhere and it cleans it.

Remember as dry as it is alot of places won't allow fires or propane stoves.

I keep condoms in my emergency kits. They are perfect to use as last minute water storage. They take up basically zero space but can hold alot. Just don't get the lubed ones.

That depends on where you are staying. Most State/National Parks won't allow them. But when I'm not in one I carry while camping. We do have a bit of a bear issue here vs. Tx.

You have a bear issue all over the United States. Maybe less so in the desert.
