Windows 8 is out (Anyone wanna do a Technet group buy? -fly)

:care:
I see no big need to switch from 7.

tsrh

Windows 8 seems to be the oriented towards mobile devices (read: touchscreen devices), which is good that windows is gearing up to eventually have an OS that will bridge the divide between PCs and mobile devices. I'll just wait until their second iteration is released before I take that jump.

Microsoft never gets shit right the first time.

But this is teh second time. Windows phone was the first. And that shit is amazing for a phone and would be even better on a tablet.

With a mouse, not at all.

I didn't even bother with the RC.

Supposedly it makes a good replacement for WHS, so I might try it out in that respect next year when I rebuild my whole network infrastructure.

Didn't you start taht BEFORE i even visited you guys?

Shits always evolving! :p

I've got a Ceton InfiniTV board in my now old gaming rig, so it's DVR through the Xbox's we already had, then I added Media Browser because why not. Media Center Master is free and takes care of the metadata for it.

Still rocking the jailbroke ATV's with XBMC on them though, and still using the ATV's for Netflix since neither of us have an Xbox Live Gold account. All the media still gets run through Handbrake to make it ATV/iPad (720P) compatible anyways for when we travel, so thats still the focus, everything else is just layered on top because it's easy to do so.

The WAF is very high with the Xbox's so thats a good thing.

Next year I want to replace the old ass server with a Synology box, and possibly pick up some Ceton Echo's if they're worth it. Oh, and another Ceton InfinitTV probably.

So yeah, stuff.

Who's in for buying a group Technet sub? We split it evenly and I'll share all Enterprise keys (for all OSs and products) and generate other needed software keys upon request. And FWIW, these keys NEVER expire. I'm still using a Win 7 key that I got from a Technet sub that expired years ago.

oooh, I'm interested. I wouldn't mind running a 2k8 server w/ sql and exchange.

I already subscribe to the Microsoft Partners Action Pack Subscription, which gives me access to Technet and more.
In fact I just renewed. Good deal. Not as many MAKs as they used to hand out. Something like 5 now and that's it.

I'm unable to convince my employer to get me one, so I am interested.

How many American dollars are we talking, because I have an arbitrary "no" point.

Its $350 for the one with Enterprise keys.

So far I have me, Duke, ibwip, valve (not sure if DJB is ever serious). Hopefully more will join in.
