So a friend of a friend on Facebook came up with strategy for cheaper gas, especially useful for this year.

http://www.speedway.com/CreditAndPrepaid/FuelAndGift.aspx

Basically buy a Prepaid Fuel card. Use your Speedway reward card (free) and earn points on the purchase of the card. Earn 20 points per $1 spent on the card.

http://www.speedway.com/SpeedyRewards/

When you use the card, you can earn 10 points per gallon of gas pumped.

Redeem the points for more Prepaid Fuel cards. This is the best deal:

$50 Fuel Card plus 3¢ off per gallon for 48,500 points.

Unfortunately Speedway isn't available in all areas of the country (Texas for instance) but I thought I would throw this out there.

Anyone else have any tricks?

PenFed Amex 6% cashback, Sunoco Visa = 15 cents off per gallon. URC Kwik Fill Card = 5 cents off per gal, BJ Club Membership = 15-20 cents off per gallon

You can use the same trick to get free groceries at Giant Eagle. Or you can buy gift cards for places you buy from everyday and get free gas at Giant Eagle too.

^^ this is a killer deal.

I've got a friend that does a lot of hauling hay & they eat out at chili's, applebees, etc, all the time. So around xmas they bought about $400 in restaurant cards @ "Dominicks" (a local grocery store) for the places they go AND for gifts, then went to fill up at their gas station - the per gallon cost was HALF because of the amount of restaurant cards purchased.

I save gas by not driving. I filled up last weekend for the first time in over a month. feels good man.

Also winter gas is different than summer gas. It has ether and shit in it to make it easier to light off and reduce emissions. Not sure when GA rolls out summer grade gasoline but it has lower vapor pressure to avoid having it evaporate into the atmosphere, it's only like 40% straight run gasoline.

I'm a bad person, I leave gas in my lawnmower during the winter and if it doesn't start up right away in spring I just top off the tank with gas from the canister I filled last fall.

Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't... It's not like we have a long winter season tho.

My lawnmower was filled with premix a couple of times and still "works"

Also hasn't ever had oil changed or added.
Must not get much use o_O We shredded all the belts at least once and broke the mower deck mounts. Change oil every 500 hours.
