A books thread, because the forum is asking me to post

I just finished The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Vol 1, Vol 2, and the Black Dossier) by Alan Moore and I've begun Reamde by Neal Stephenson which has a bit of a slow start but I'm still interested so I will continue reading.

Let us know how Readme turns out. Stephenson's books sometimes go so far off into Math, Cryptology etc. that they can be tedious at times. Snow Crash by him is still one of my favorite books ever.

Man, I read Crytonomicon (or however the fuck you spell it) by Stephenson. omfg, that was possibly the worst book I've ever read.

I'm about 50 pages in and its mostly talking about a World of Warcraft type game that the narrator built. I'm giving it another 50 pages...

I crammed the Commie Manifesto in a day for a test 2morrow? It didn't sound like a manifesto to me...? Has anyone else read it? :rollout:
Yes. If you want your mind blown, go watch Star Trek and compare their society to the general idea of materialism in CM.

Das Kapital is more interesting if you want how communism is supposed to work.

I've just finished an enthralling book about two people called Janet and John. They spent the day at the beach after enjoying the journey there. They had ice cream and built sand castles. I think there's a sequel. I do hope so.

It's not communism, it's a post-scarcity society-- at least for the average citizen of the federation. You never really see this addressed in the shows because stories about content people who want for nothing and have time to pursue their own goals at their own pace ARE FUCKING BORING!
