You should probably listen.

Pulled over Friday night by 5 police. Not really pulled over. Well. here is the story.

After midnight (of course, nothing good ever happens after midnight). For the most part, I was a very good boy (thank goodness). So, at some friends house after the bars close (I was sober), and me and a friend drive down to the gas station for some snacks. She hasn't spent much time in a car that goes vroom, so i was showing off, a little. At a light, I have to make a u-turn to get to the gas station. If I just took a glance to my right, I wouldn't have done what i did next.

Light turns green, I gun it, giving the tires, and the girl in the passenger seat, a squeel.

Pull into the gas station, get stuff. Walk up to the front, and the dude says 'I hope that's not your mustang...'

I look outside, and there I see 5 cop cars, 2 pulled up at angles to block my car into the lot. The one thing I didn't notice was that none of their lights were on. Turns out all 5 cop cars were parked at the gas station I wasn't going to... I never missed something like that in the past.

I'm pretty sure they were expecting me to be drunk. I wasn't.

So, calmy, I finish my purchase, and walk out the door looking at the two cops posted up on my car.. In my best manner, I go 'So, what's going on gentlemen'..

Cop starts off growling. I could give you a $250 ticket, blah blah blah. I make one sentence of protest, and he says 'We could either argue this in court, or you could...'

Boom, picked up on that right away 'No, no, you are absolutely right officer. That was irresponsible of me. I promise not to do it again'...

A few more statements from the cops, and back into their cars they go. one of them was this little 5'5" 120lb guy who just kept giving me the stink eye, hoping, just hoping, i'd give him a reason.. I didn't.

They go on their way, except one who decided to follow me for the next 2 miles, just to see... Pretty sure it was Napoleon.

Life decided to be very kind. Message heard.

I HATE it when cops act like that. Like they NEVER like to have any fun behind the wheel of a car. Ugh. Glad you were smart and didn't get an attitude, but it must have been hard.

One time I was standing in grass along the side of a road taking some pictures for my photography class when an ambulance, a fire truck and about 3 police cruisers showed up (including the chief of police in our county for whatever reason). Apparently someone had seen me along the side of the road and for whatever reason decided I was in distress and needed help so they called 911. I thanked everyone for coming out, but explained that I was just fine and taking some pictures for an assignment.

The police chief started yelling at me about how much of a disturbance I had caused and how he could arrest me for such a thing. I was polite but I explained I wasn't aware of any laws that prohibited me from doing what I was doing and apologized for the trouble. Then he asked if it was my car that was parked along side the road about 30 feet from where I was standing and I said that it was and he told me I couldn't park there (despite it being well on the shoulder and there being no signage saying you couldn't pull onto the shoulder). So I apologized and offered to accept any parking ticket that I was due and I offered to move my car. He told me I just needed to leave and that they never wanted to see me on the side of the road again. WTF?

yup, pretty obvious to never get lippy with the heat. there is no good ending in that scenario.

Good for you, Duke.

It's hard, but we all have to play the game or deal wit the stupid consequences. Grr.
