Maliciously hurting someone is a crime, yes. But anyone might be a carrier of a cold virus and be asymptomatic when they pass it. Technically they are hurting someone, too, and if that person has a weak immune system it could be dangerous. Is that a crime?

holy shit. please tell me you're trolling us. please.

Then I ask again, would you rather people with (possibly) deadly infectious diseases wear a badge so that anyone that might have contact with that person can think to themselves to make the choice to contact that person and sleep with them? A badge system would be totally easier than just telling everyone all the time.

This is you, being reactionary gay, taking it to an extreme again.

It's no different than a person with Herpes, or HPV, or some other permanent social disease. You man up and tell your potential partner about it and allow them to decide for themselves. It has nothing to do with being on a list, or a badge.

In fact, the reason anyone in society would even suggest creating a list or a badge for people with a HIV positive status is because so many people who are knowing HIV positive won't do the right thing and admit it to a person before engaging in activities that could very well spread the disease.

You are advocating the exact actions that would lead to a nightmare scenario you fear.

the phrase reactionary gay makes me :fly: because it makes me think of getting hit in the knee with one of those rubber mallets at the doctor

*boop* aw damnit doc, now i want some dong

Do you tell all of the women you sleep with you (90% confident) have the herp? Before their panties come off?

Do you willfully reveal any possible infections you might pass on to your partner each and every time?

I think Hitler pretty much ruined the badge system for everyone.

It's the itchy butt getting to him.

Before long you'll have to do blood tests to have sex somewhat like blood tests before marriage.
Which was thrown out by the courts actually. It is illegal to require those in most places.

I totally think blood tests should be required for marriage. People should know what they are getting into disease wise when marrying.

That should be a personal request the couple do on their own when they make the decision to get married, not a civil mandated event many months into their relationship when they get to the court house.

The difference is we're talking about actually having the infection as opposed to a "possible" infection. The artice said the guy KNEW he had it and did not disclose it.

And herpes doesn't cause any long term issues and is only a minior annoyance. It will not bankrupt you keeping you alive with the medicine. Nor is death an eventual outcome.

Horrible comparison.

Its just like getting pregnant, its the fault of both parties.

Pregnancy is an STD after all.

Both parties know going in a kid is a possibility. we are taking about someone hiding thier known hiv status.

If someone has hiv doesn't know it and transmits it, its not a crime. Its knowingly giving it to someone who doesn't know you have it thats illegal.

Let's go back to this, because you are purposefully diffusing your answers from the obvious fact.

If you KNOW you have something that, when spread, will be permanent, are you saying that you shouldn't bother sharing that information, at all, unless asked?

None of this 'might, possibly, maybe' bullshit. The original story, as you asked it, was from a man who knowingly, for over 20 years, had a disease, and, selfishly (because he wanted to get laid) decided not to share that information with the one person it would make the most sense to share it with before the fact (never mind that he didn't even do it until after the fact, when his partner had to do some serious detective actions to find out). Are you advocating his not sharing this information as being acceptable?

So only deadly infections should be mentioned. Ok. Or infections that are expensive to treat.
