When we first opened our library 11 years ago the main staircase was glass where you would see perfectly through it. People were scared shitless by it. Either the height scared them, or they were afraid it would break, or they were afraid of people looking up skirts. It was a lot of sheets of thick bullet proof like glass stacked together to make a single step but people were still afraid so eventually the top two layers were replaced with a frosted glass with the top most layer having extra grip built in. The whole debacle wasted a lot of time and money.
