My dad is back in religious mode and we were talking about the middle east and he mentioned the Jews being God's chosen people. I want to sit down sometime and ask him what does that mean in his current baptist faith for the nonjews? Do they get to inherit the earth or does that mean they just fly business class on the way to heaven or hell?

considering everything ze juden have been through in the past couple thousand years I'd say being the chosen people is the worst game of tag EVER

It is very rich considering religions made the details up to begin with and all atheists have to do is comment on those details. But instead they twist them further and add their own color. Why? Because they're assholes.

How do you know atheists made up those details, and that they are not details made up by religious people who tend to disagree with other religious people on how this whole religious thing happened?

I'm prone to believe that the first religious scroll was planted by atheists when they got tired of making fun of fat people.

"God's chosen" only means that God chose them to teach the world morality, according to the Talmud. It doesn't mean they are destined for great things or prize money or anything else. Abraham re-discovered the concept of monotheism, per the story, and because of that God chose him and his people (descendants) to instruct others of the same. It doesn't protect them from aggression or even imply that they should have avoided it.

BACHMANN: When that happened, I heard the news on my local Christian radio station in Minneapolis, St. Paul and I was devastated. And I took a walk and I just went to prayer and I said Lord, what would you have me do in the Minnesota state senate? And just through prayer I knew that I was to introduce the marriage amendment in Minnesota.

Her bill failed

drove around to stores all over atlanta looking for hardware to hang my pics spange printed. 5 stores and none of them had what I was looking for. in the midst of it a huge bottle of laundry detergent sprung a leak on the passenger floorboard of my new car so I wasted $100 and an hour getting that cleaned up. lost $100 and 5 hours and got nothing out of the deal. great first day of vacation! think I'll try ikea tomorrow. went to home depot, staples, michael's, office depot and an art store all in vain. what I'm looking for clips and holds the pics from the top and then you hang the clip. a few of the stores had exactly what I needed hanging in their own windows yet didn't sell the stuff.

for poleaux to ponder though he visits so infrequently these days it will probably be long buried before he gets back
