tell me about it.

quite a few people where I work think they can call the IT dept and ask us how to do certain things in excel.

:waw:

At least that's related to computers. I haven't been asked this at my current job but in previous jobs, if there was a hint of electronics in something, they expected me to know how to operate/fix said item.

you know whats worse? when you're not even in the fucking IT department but since you're an engineer they expect you to know why their outlook is getting an error message.

:waw:

...bitches, i ain't got time to google your problem for you. this stuff isn't hard to figure out these days.

The only difference between tech support people and users, is tech support people are willing to actually look around.

i don't take calls at work anymore, i only return them. it's a good policy that has saved me a ton of work cause most people won't leave a voicemail unless they really need something. and "hey, give me a call asap" isn't going to get a call returned either.

it's not that i'm difficult to work with, if they have something valid for me i jump right on it. i'm just not willing to work with difficult people.

around '96 I saw someone put a mouse on the floor and try to use it like a sewing machine foot pedal. no joke

thank god. that would suck to have an office full of smelly feet uncorked from the shoe so they could click the mouse buttons with their toes
