GAY RELUBRICANTS Where are you now? lulz

Am I the only one that thinks gas prices should be over $5 a gallon with the taxes going directly to roads and alternative fuel R&D and deployment?

eh, wouldn't work. it would go through so many hands in the end and be so mismanaged that there wouldn't be any positive results

I just don't understand how that could not work. I keep thinking how successful the Ohio tollway is and how (shockingly) responsible they are with their toll money and wonder how they wrote those contracts. However they did it, it's working. The money from that public service successfully and completely goes to the hands of those that build and maintain the roads and bridges and to the salt trucks and toll booth operators. It does not go to local authorities' pockets (like so many of them wish) and they are still turning a profit for which they invest in surplus salt for next season and upgrade programs for new bridges and road expansions. How on earth is a public service like that so successful and all the others (seemingly) so bad?

And it's not terribly expensive, either. $10 or so for a full 240 mile trip through the state.

No local or state funding needed to maintain those roads.

If they keep it locally, that's a good thing.

Giving the feds control of something like that would ruin it.

Just look at MA for how a toll-paid highway system can go completely off the rails.

but then you would have been in the closet in the military for the last 15 years to get there. worth the trade off?

most astronauts do not come from the military, they're typically scientists. usually it's just the pilot and less often the commander that was an aviator

Waw sounds jealous that his uncle is Buzz and he is just an IT guy.

my grandfather was a paratrooper in WWII but he wasn't old enough to join until '44. he never jumped in war because we bombed japan instead of sending men. that's the extent of my family's military history.

Anyone putting any odds on the Repubs keeping their seats in the House and Senate or the governor keeping his seat in WI in next election?
