BRUSSELS — Unable — or unwilling — to work together, bickering politicians have left unassuming Belgium without a fully functioning government for eight months, the longest for any nation in Europe since World War II.

Through most of that time, few Belgians, let alone the outside world, even seemed to notice. Trains continue to run, waffles are still being grilled on street corners, and people window-shop along centuries-old arcades. Tourists still sample mussels, go for canal rides in Bruges and snap up Tintin souvenirs, blissfully unaware of a political crisis.

A lack of government doesn't seem to be a problem in Belgium.

"I think we need to try NO Government in our country!" I think you're absolutely right! We The People are more than capable of handling our own affairs and taking care of each other. Imagine the things we could accomplish without government holding us back! All of that "Federal Land" would be ours again, and we could finally figure out what the hell is so secretive about area 51. Remove the bureaucracy, remove the restraints, and remove the corruption.

A limited government just wouldn't work for a country our size at this point. It's a nice dream but too many people are addicted to the jobs, aid, etc. bullshit you get from a government our size. I just would like to see us making plans to control the growth of our future government and streamline what we have currently. There is no fucking reason why I can't go into my local court house and not pay a speeding ticket with a credit card or debit card after waiting 45 minutes in a 3 person line.

Did you know that the waiting in line/cash only is part of the punishment.

The problems with using other countries as examples is that those other countries are nowhere near as capitalistic of a society as America is.

I think a bigger problem is that any other country that gets used as an example don't play the 50% +1 game like we do.

When a legislative body is triangulated to agree to a max of 50% +1 only at the time of voting, and be against it before and after, you're not really helping your citizens. You're twisting arms to get your name on some crap legislation.
