The immigration bill is racial profiling in the purest form. We've had this argument many times in other threads. It also happens to be in direct defiance of the 14th Amendment.

Then you got House Bill 2524 which bans ethnic studies in High Schools.

How about all the surviving KKK, local militias, and other white supremacy organizations that have found safe haven in Arizona? One of the few places I can think of where a sheriff can outright say he's proud to be a KKK member without losing his job. Good for them. I'm glad they have a place to go.

Considering how bad the problem of illegal immigration and the crime it's bringing to AZ is, I'm of the belief that they aren't doing enough to stop it. What they are doing right now isn't racism, it's called trying to survive.

If you knew your history, you'd know that's where they states' rights argument came from. I believe the speech was entitled Slavery: a Positive Good.
 
Equal Protection Clause, which you quoted, as interpreted by the SCOTUS, not you or the Governor of Arizona.

That doesn't apply to people who aren't born in, or citizens of, the United States. You don't get protection for just "being" here.

You're right. My concern is about the U.S. citizens who happen to be brown who are now second class citizens. They are the ones who are negatively affected by the legislation. Not white people and not illegal aliens as they do deserve to be deported.

I dislike people on a case by case basis. I am also capable of liking and disliking people who may happen to be bigots. I'm sure you're able to do the same. I'm talking about law here.

So a legal US citizen commits a crime (a requirement of the law to ask for proof of citizenship), then yes - they are a second class citizen.
 
Well considering that if you're convicted of a felony, you can NEVER vote or own a handgun again... Yeah, thats pretty much the definition of a second class citizen
