WTF Pentagon Child Porn Scandal

the lack of resources is a huuuuuuuge problem with attacking child porn.

my buddy has dealt with a few cases involving child porn on employee's comps at his company, and the fbi basically said they don't have the capacity to follow up most cases or do anything with them, so they are targeting the mass distributors and creators and overlooking people downloading it for the most part. they have guidelines based on how much child porn a person has and what it is as to what happens to them... if it's not much and they aren't spreading it around, basically nothing happens.

Wait, so how much can I legally download then?

edit: And what if its of a foreign national, like DJB's other daughter?

ahhh guilty by proximity! Never mind Australia having some of the toughest laws against child pornography.

Boggles me why you can't just admit it and say "Yeah, this shit is fucking bad and reflects poorly on the nation" instead of trying to down play it.

Dude, Australia does a ton of shit that's bad.

Cronulla Riots were a very bad moment in Australia history. It made my country look extremely racist and idiotic.

AWB Scandal was also a complete and utter fuck up by certain Australians that made our country look bad.

I could go on and on, but you get the point.

I'm sure that shit happens everywhere. Besides, wouldn't you rather have health care than catch pedos? Despite what you liberals think, you can't have EVERYTHING for free.

Yeah the great ol' USA can't handle health care and pedophiles..

like i said, my buddy has had to deal with a few cases of it through his work now. before i got to hear about his experiences and figured out how widespread that shit is, i would've thought it was a serious issue with the pentagon. the more realistic view is it's everywhere and yea, it's a serious problem we can't get a handle on. the dudes that do get prosecuted get everything they deserve, its not like our laws are lax. it's simply not realistic to prosecute every person out there, especially if they have one or two images in their browser cache or something.

one of the cases my buddy worked on, a guy had multiple dvd's burned at his desk at work he was going to send out to other pedophiles (some in other countries), had a 500gb drive he'd bring to work that ended up being full of it, and had some other crazy shit going on. he was a major distributor apparently. what was more shocking is my buddy had to randomly print a sampling of the pictures they found on his work comp for the FBI, and the FBI flipped through it and recognized a good portion of the victims. It's a lot of the same shit that turns up everywhere it seems... so the real target are those producing the stuff.

I understand. I just think the FBI is being cheap. They should remove the 3453084502394234234 agents they have assigned to counter-terrorism/homneland security, and get them back fighting real crimes like this shit right here.

There is no way to stop the disgusting pedophilia. We can punish it all we want, but it will always be there. :(

No one thinks you can stop free will. You can only try to make it hard to accomplish, and react with punishment when it's done.

They need to rethink their prioritization of these crimes. Look how much the government spend chasing pot smokes/sellers/growers. They created a whole agency for that.

Ya I agree. I can't believe the amount of money the government throws at drug control when there are children out there suffering. :(

i totally agree. we need to quit worrying about victimless crimes and legalize weed already, and re focus all those agents on fighting shit like this.
