FYI Happy Boxing Day you non-Americans

Boxing Day originated in England hundreds and hundreds of years ago as a day for the peasants to receive gifts from their masters. Christmas day was not suitable for this as the peasants were required to work on Christmas day.

These days, for Australians at least, it mean getting outside so the kids can play with their presents, cooking on the barbie, drinking beer, and watching the start of the Boxing Day cricket test.

And now I'm suddenly homesick.. :(

what's a cricket test? is that where they ask you wtf kinda sport it is and why anyone would play it? :p

Wikipedia said:
Test cricket is the longest form of the sport of cricket. Test matches are played between national representative teams with "Test status", as determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC), with four innings played between two teams of 11 players over a period of up to a maximum five days. It is generally considered the ultimate test of playing ability and endurance in the sport.[1][2][3]

I've had a fairly good boxing day. Had a lie in, deep cleaned my kitchen, rearranged furniture, fed my friends cat and got some fingerless gloves. Now I'm eating leftover food my mum brought over and I'm gonna watch some movies on the Beeb website.

aw yes... nothing represents bums like fingerless gloves.

Or people who don't want to take off gloves every two seconds. I hate proper gloves cos I hate the lack of sensation when you're looking for something in your bag and can't really tell what anythign is, it kinda freaks me out having a lack of feeling like that. Also I smoke so it's easy to roll cigs with fingerless gloves. They green and black striped too which match a scarf I have so that was pretty thoughtful of my friend. :)

They're mandatory in the wind on ski mountains.

how so as opposed to a regular glove? are the fingertips attached I imagine? being on a ski lift and having to keep up with a bunch of fingertip pieces would be much more difficult than slipping a glove off for a sec
