Movie The Walking Dead (TV show)FULL SPOILERS *If this triggers you, then pls die*

I'm still unclear why Merle would cut through his wrist instead of the (relatively) soft-metal bolt he was cuffed to.

It was actually a zombie hand. They didn't show the epic undead/saw battle that nearly destroyed the rooftop and culminated in him picking the lock with a bit of cartilage.

I watched last night's ep twice. that says a lot when a show can keep you riveted with back to back viewings. even the 2nd watch went by in 5 minutes, seemingly.

Anyone else think that Merle loaded a bunch of undead into the back of the panel truck and dropped them off outside the camp?

definitely

I'm going to go even further out and predict this.

With The Walking Dead getting a 13 episode run for next year, they are going to need an antagonist beyond just 'the dead'. They are going to need a human asshole to make life just as miserable for the survivors as anyone else. In the comics, it was 'the governor'. A dude who, coincidentally, lost his hand.

I see Merle becoming a 'governor' type of character. As such, as he sat on the rooftop, praying to god for redemption and forgiveness, I think his plan to remake the world post zompocalypse formed in his head. However, he had to remove his past, else the truth about who he is would get out and ruin the personality cult he's going to create for himself. As such, he brought the dead to the camp to clear it out and remove any trace of his past history. He even knew his brother was there (he didn't know the brother went back to atlanta to get him), so he was willing to kill everyone to start his new life. His brother, finding out that Merle was ready to offer him up to the dead to cleanse his way, will eventually be the one that kills merle.

Just my guess as to how this plays out next season.

I don't think Merle is the governor.

Merle isn't the governor. He isn't smart enough. They have a long way to go until they meet the governor. I doubt they'll meet him before season 3. Maybe at the very very end of 2.

This.

The Governor is a much more powerful person than Merle is. Merle is just a low-life thug.

Michonne was one bad bitch in the comics. I hope they don't water her down too much.

With only two episodes left they will probably end the first season with them just starting to leave the ATl area.

You go off the assumption that the AMC version will exactly mimic the comix version, which I think, come season 2, you will see them split.

What I'm seeing is Merle going off as some quasi-religious zealot. In a world gone mad, it won't take much for a zombie plagued race to find a religious type to flock too. The governor won't be the same as the comix. Some similarities, sure, but i'm going to guess you're going to see a departure in season 2 from the established story, mostly because sticking 100% to an established storyline is just asking to become the next Watchmen.

Merle doesn't have the intelligence to be the Governor. He wasn't just a blood thirsty s.o.b. but cold and calculating. You have a whole state to meet new characters so it makes more sense for the Merle thing to wrap up by the end of this arc.

What? Merle himself told God he wouldn't beg him for help in the last episode, where is this messiah idea you've conjured up coming from?
