It has nothing to do with how got here. It has to do with political philosophy.
CN Et al believe in hard work will get you want. The rest want to cry to the government about how life unfair and the government needs do something about it.
I think you mistake my point. All people are equal. Are all treated equally. All should be expected to contribute and earn their way, but that doesn't mean all should expect the same as everyone else.
I don't believe in discrimination for equality based on anything, race, sex, who you want to plug (as long as it's a human being of legal age), etc etc. But I also don't believe in benefits to those same groups claiming discrimination that gives them any additional protections over anyone else. Assault, sexual harassment, discrimination, all people; male, female, gay, straight, white, black, fuscia, get the same benefits and protections as anyone else.
I believe in full equality across the board. I also believe that special support mechanisms are based on inequality, and, as such, need to be removed. Set up the country for a person to make his or her way based on what they contribute, remove support for those that don't. Offer free support mechanisms to remove drug and alcohol dependencies only. If your a sex addict, take up a job in porn but don't come crying. Drug addicts don't get welfare, any welfare benefit comes with an expiration date. Welfare involves birth control, if you can't afford to live unsupported, you should NOT be bringing more children into that scenario. If you do, well, sorry about your luck, but make your own way. No special situation rules. 1 rule for everyone. Special circumstances are an excuse for the weak willed. Short term it will make life difficult for about 10-15% of people. Long term, it's the only way to fix the freeloader society we have become.
And no, I'm not Republican.
