WTF So we have this new guy...

I work with several people who seemingly have no function at the office, or in life, for that matter.

Why do you think I never let you into the attic? I always led you to believe it was because your good twin was up there when really it was full of my stolen cigarettes.

It was a tobacco company. They never even noticed smoking was bad for you till the 90's.

I almost took an internship at Philip Morris right after college(1999) but the place was too odd. You got patted down every time you went in or not to make sure you didn't have any tobacco products on you. Once you got in the place there was free cigs every where and people were smoking every where. In their office, hall ways, etc. It was like walking into a bar before smoking was banned. The job was being a computer tech but once I noticed the layer of tar on every thing I had a good idea that 90% of the job would be removing tar from computers to get them working again. I didn't smoke and thought I'd be dead within the month working there.

The R&D division had guards all around it with machine guys and the security looked super tight.

I had an uncle that was a sales rep for cig companies and the trunk of his car was always loaded with cartons of cigs that he'd give away to people all of the time. He died of very aggressive cancer that started in his lungs and worked it's way to his brain. He's pretty much why I don't smoke. I've seen the worse case scenario. Horrible way to go. i want to be snu snu to death.

Not sure if this is related or not...but after reading your post b_sinning....it brought to mind the last month of my life. I have been in Keizer, OR trying to get my mom and step-dad's house in order for a sale (they both have died...within 10 days of each other.) My step-dad's "office" has been his smoking room for the past 20+ years. The computer motherboard is covered in tar, along with every other piece of furniture, clothing, hardware, etc....in that room. I think I cured three people from ever smoking again after trying to clean just a portion of that room.

Smoking is bad ----- Ohhhhkayyyy!!

 I interviewed at a place like that, wholesale cig distributor, they even smoked in the data center.

Their Unisys mainframe was all yellow and stuff.

Awesome.

...at work.
No ones really sure what he does.
His names on the org chart in an ambiguous location.
He comes to our staff meeting, and is included on all org emails.
He has an office
His boss wont really say what his function is
Hes not seen around much

Anyone else have a person like this? Is he some kind of cia operative?

Turns out this guy is here to handle "procurement" issues
Like ordering stuff and whatnot
I was told I could "make him my bitch" if I wanted
I dont really want to, but its nice to know I have the option if I want it.
