Hawt Two Good A2ACTU Control Incidents.

If everyone had guns the crime rate would be ridiculously low. There is proof of this.

Its the same way that legalizing marijuana reduces crime. Controlling a substance or product creates more crime.

Is there proof? And how does that PROOF apply to a completely different society exactly? Is South Africa safer for having guns? Is Colombia safer for all their AK's or is this just proof applied to Canada which may well be the exception to the rule and not representative or applicable to other countries?

Truth.

Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed.

Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa - widely considered one of the world's most dangerous countries.

Civilized indeed. Hmph!

I wasn't aware that guns were legal round the whole of Europe with Britain being the exception. :)

They are not legal in Britain. Britain has a high rate of crime. They are legal in the US. US has a lower (comparatively) rate of crime. Just proving you wrong.

The problem with your examples are that it's not the citizens that have the weapons, but the drug cartels and gangs that have them.

I totally believe in private ownership of guns. It's one reason why the US is no longer part of England. If your government reaches a point it is no longer good for the citizens then the citizens have a right to do something about it. That's what the second amendment is talking about.

I don't think the citizens need to take up arms and have a bloody civil war over that. That's very theoretical and you're assuming that the army wouldn't have it's own ku in that situation therefore negating private citizens need for guns.

So? It's still crime and safety. The problem with peoples examples here is you're applying American society norms and situations with British social norms and situations.

The point you're missing is gun control on prevents law abiding citizens from having guns. I don't think drug cartels and gangs are law abiding citizens.

Social norms and situations? So there's no armed robberies in England? No one enters into another person's house over there?

coup*

and seeing as the army is the government's physical force, it wouldn't negate it.

Very few people would need to defend themselves with a gun from an intruder in England. In a lot of British peoples views you guys are mad paranoid about such things hence hwy you need a gun. If everyone had guns we'd been the same but like you don't seem to get - we have very little fear of guns or anybody entering our property with a gun otherwise don't you think more private individuals would try to get a gun to protect themselves? What is realistic in your country is not realistic for ours.

very little fear of anyone entering your property? You have 4 times the instances per capita than the US of rape, murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated burglary.

I have a perfectly good baseball bat next to my door, why would I want something that is more likely to kill someone than that? Who wants to end up killing another human being?
because I'm sure if a guy three times your size wanted to rape you you'd have any chance in hell at defending yourself with a baseball bat

wanting to kill another human being because they're trying to do you serious harm is a good thing. it's perfectly natural and should always be supported at the state level

I've never feared anybody entering my property. I just don't live in that state of paranoia. Nobody has ever broken into my property, stolen anything of mine, mugged me, assaulted me, raped me, held me at gunpoint or otherwise hit me in a violent criminal fashion. Fact.

What I never understand is why you feel that when we as a society feel no impulsion, no interest and no need for guns that we should adopt them for some unknown reason. If we're happy without, which we very much are, why would we want them? I can't see any reasons at all. And if we're so inclined to be criminal and violent why add more guns to the mix?

 I'm fairly confident in his ability to defend me.

too bad he can barely feed himself and has to trespass on someone else's property to not live on the street. everybody was kung fu fighting!

good luck with that

edit: oh now I get why you don't like guns, because you would have been shot for being a criminal by now
