WTF OMG, the future of yo seedz is dooomed!!

We produce more than enough food so that people don't need to starve. Newsflash! We don't give it away to poor people enough, we hoard our own food and throw it away in the tonnes. Don't talk bull about GMO's being needed to feed the poor and starving when we don't prevent the poor from starving with what resources we do actually make. Also keeping starving people alive with government aid just aids yet more problems (over population etc. etc. etc.).

We certainly dont if you wanna go all hippie and organic. Do you have any idea what organically farmed corn yields are?

If the seed is unique to its engineer, then I disagree. Why do you think it's a misuse?

Because its nature. You shouldn't be able to patent nature. otherwise you end up with problems like Monsanto is creating for independent farmers. These plants pollinate, cause that's what nature designed them to do. Now we have an intermixing of patented and non-patented plants. The end result is Monsanto suing independent farmers for patent infringement. Luckily, being the nice company that they are, they back off once they force the farmers to switch to their seeds.

Gene patents are nothing short of revolting to me.

That's the issue that the suicide seeds or terminator genes or whatever you want to call them prevent. The seeds are good for one harvest and the crop can't pollinate. When was the last lawsuit over this stuff filed?

Not sure really. Hard to find good info online that isnt OMG MONSANTO IS THE DEVIL LOL ORGANIC

I only ask because I agree that it's fucked up for Monsanto to sue over their patented product spilling over in to neighboring fields. It was my personal opinion that while it may be their intellectual property, if they aren't taking steps to prevent pollination, then tough titties. That's why the terminator gene thing doesn't bother me one bit.

Even with it "fixed", it is still somewhat annoying to me that they've irreversibly changed crops for everyone on the planet. And lets hope that it's pollen doesn't fuck up these other plants more...

Also on this topic of Montanto and fucking over local farmers when I lived at the hippy anarchist social centre bollocks place we had a group of people from the Oaxaca region of Mexico come to talk to us and show a documentary on just this issue. They were talking about the militant groups that were trying to stop Monsanto infiltrating and forcing them to use their seeds. Just thought you might find that somewhat interesting.

You imbecile, what part of 'giving people free shit doesn't help them' indicates I want more freebies?

This part. Your quote, not mine.

a few seeds cannot start traiting across the wider genus grown in fields worldwide

it's impossible. this shouldn't be a point of contention. both can be grown seperate as there will be no cross contamination unless there is an absolutely fucking massive amount of stimuli which isn't going to happen under normal agri conditions
