I'm really getting sick of comcast's quality here and there is some international sports options that Direct TV has. I've never had anything other than cable and was wondering if anyone has had luck with the others. I always have concerns of quality and loss of reception with non cable but that may all be a myth. And don't give me any of that steaming online crap.

I had directv at my last house and it was awesome
I have dish now , and its ok, but they lost the fx channel and a few others , which sux
The video quality on both are pretty good

We had a dish in Ohio. Yeah, we occasionally lost service during a storm or something, but with nowhere near the regularity of losing service with Comcast. AOL/Time Warner was our other cable option there and I decided against that when I discovered that even the sales staff was rude. If I couldn't go with Fios I'd have a dish here. I can't handle dealing with cable companies anymore.

we have directv for the whole building. good stuff. I've always been on cable too until now. this is way better.

If it's pointing between trees, you'll get interference when they sway.

Also, make sure you can clean snow off of it where it's placed, at the last place I had no way of getting to it and had to throw snowballs at it until the snow fell off.

Spray the reflector with some silicon spray, and almost all of the snow will slide right off.

And installers are supposed to take tree sway and the like into account. If they haven't you can get them to come back and find a better spot for the dish.

I currently have DirecTV and love it. Shitloads of sports channels. Very occasionally I'll get a blip on the reception or some feed lag, but not usually.

I'd have to be able to get to the dish to spray it in the first place :D

Not an issue now, as my current one is on a 6' pole in the yard.

only time I ever had a dish was one of the big movable ones in the back yard that you could select which satellite you wanted to point to

12 years old discovering that galaxy 4 had a hidden porn feed was awesome

dish is busy losing all of their channels. Direct tv is cool except for during bad weather, my parents are switching back to cable based soley on that. Fios is awesome but if your watching an hd channel it kills your internet.
